Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Beam Tab

For the flared girder case, since the individual beam lengths may be different, all beam drawings/length dimensions on the tab are drawn based on the computed lengths of the precast beams.

The Effective Width is computed at each tenth point for all the girders in the bridge. Since the geometry at each of these sections could vary for a flared girder bridge, the effective width could also vary. The computed effective width can be overwritten by simply editing the value in the effective width field at the desired 10th point location as shown in Figure 1. Precast/Prestressed Girder uses the effective width at the appropriate location to compute the composite section properties at these locations, as shown in Figure 2. Precast/Prestressed Girder further uses these section properties to compute stresses and other calculations for the flared girder geometry case.
